Australian Visa Changes For Chinese Citizens

Australian visa changes announced for Chinese passport holders.

According to 2015 data, more than a million Chinese citizens visited Australia, which provided $8.3 billion to the Australian economy.

During a visit to Shanghai, the Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull said that the Australian Government is simplifying the application process for for Chinese tourists.

“For the first time, we are trialling applications, visa applications, in a language other than English in Mandarin Chinese. And there will be online visa applications from China”, he added.

Australia is trialling a 10 year validity tourist visa for Chinese nationals. It shows the commitment of Australia to increase the tourism relationship between the two countries. The more Chinese citizens come to Australia and vice versa, the more economic, academic, social opportunities for both countries.

Tourism Australia and Air China have also signed a new $6 million agreement, focused on advertising and data sharing. It is expected to boost up the number of people travelling to the country.
