Australian Online Tourist Visas for Brazilians and Argentines Officially Come into Effect

February 17, 2012

According to the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIBP), citizens from Brazil and Argentina can apply for online tourist visas to Australia starting from February 15, 2012.

The e676 electronic tourist visa will make it more convenient for citizens of Brazil and Argentina to apply for their tourist visas electronically through a fast, secure and convenient application process.

A DIBP spokesperson stated that these new arrangements allow Brazilians and Argentines to check the progress of their application electronically. Also, applicants will receive a notification including details of the visa when the decision is made. Airlines can confirm the visa entitlements through the Advance Passenger Processing system.

It is not compulsory to have a visa label placed in a passport, but clients may opt to print a copy of their visa approval notification email to bring along when traveling to Australia.

Brazilians and Argentines can still apply for their tourist visa directly with the Australian Embassy in Brasilia or Buenos Aires respectively if they cannot lodge an e676 application online.
