Nature of your relationship to your Australian partner:
In order to assist you in selecting the correct relationship type, please refer to the definitions below:
Married - a married relationship is evidenced by way of a formal marriage certificate and is a commitment by a couple to a shared life to the exclusion of all others. Married couples must demonstrate that their relationship is genuine and continuing and that they live together (or do not live separately and apart) on a permanent basis.
De Facto - the definition is the same as the one stated above for 'married' except that whilst couples live together as 'husband and wife', they are not formally married.
Same-Sex Partner - is a relationship in which a couple have a mutual commitment to a shared life to the exclusion of all others. Couples are mutally dependent on each other and they live together (or do not live separately and apart) on a permanent basis.
Engaged (Fiance) - is a relationship in which the parties are engaged to be married. Applicants under this category must demonstrate that they genuinely intend to marry their partner and live with them in a spouse relationship (as defined above).
