Australia to Organize Skilled Migration Seminars in Central West

According to the Australian Immigration Department, there will be Skilled Migration Seminars taking place from July 16 to 19 in the Central West.

The Seminars will discuss significant reforms to the Australian skilled migration program introduced on July 1. The changes will allow Australian employers to connect with potential Australian skilled migrants and simplify the Australian permanent residence process for foreigners already working in Australia on temporary skilled 457 visas. The launch of online SkillSelect system integrates the Australian employer nomination scheme (ENS) and the regional sponsored migration scheme (RSMS) and enables skilled workers to record their details to be considered for a skilled visa through an expression of interest (EOI) system.

"These new arrangements are designed to better respond to labour market demands and form part of ongoing reform of the skilled migration program," said a Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) spokesperson. "Intending Australian migrants will be found and nominated for skilled visas by Australian employers or state and territory governments, or they could be invited by the Australian Government to lodge a visa application."

In addition to conducting seminars in Longreach and Barcaldine, departmental officers will have brief individual appointments with employers and employees in Longreach, Winton, Barcaldine, Blackall and Tambo.

"Our officers will be available to provide a range of information on temporary or permanent employer-sponsored visa options and the concessions available for regional applicants," said the spokesperson.
